Otama-chan was created with Tama, the daughter of Akechi Mitsuhide, as her motif to promote the Nagaokakyo Garasha Festival, which began in 1992, the year Katsuryuji Park was completed after the former site of Katsuryuji Castle, one of the city's historical heritage sites, was developed. She travels to many events and places, mainly in Kyoto Prefecture, working hard to promote the Nagaokakyo Garasha Festival.
