Kinopy, the Kiryu City Mascot Character, was created to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the city's incorporation. His motif is the “sawtooth-roof textile factory complex” in the city, a cultural heritage of Japan. Apparently, the roof on his head represents the “cooperation, harmony, and future development” of the municipalities that merged. His light-blue hands express the abundant water sources of the Watarase River, and with the city emblem on his chest, he appears at events in various places to promote “energetic Kiryu City” throughout Japan.
