Kushiro Zangi image character. Zangiri Samurai. Zangi refers to fried chicken and is widely known as a term used in Hokkaido, but fried local ingredients such as salmon, whale, venison, and octopus are also apparently called Kushiro Zangi. Zangiri Samurai appears at Kushiro Zangi vendor booths and events to promote Kushiro's ever-evolving fried-food culture.
