Sekisho no Misegura mascot character, Ishio-san. Makabe Town has long been a "stone town" where high-quality granite can be found, so students from the University of Tsukuba designed stone works that Sekisho craftsmen produced and displayed at events. Ishio-san is the stone fairy born from a lantern among the works displayed at a Makabe Town event. Ishio-san appears at many events in the city to welcome visitors.
