Shiwa Castle Ancient Park mascot character Shiwamarukun. His real name is Sakanoue no Shiwamaro, and he is a six-year-old boy who time-slipped from the Heian period to the present day. Traveling between the Heian period and the present, he grows ancient rice with the city’s children and helps enliven the annual Shiwa Castle Festival. While attracting attention through television appearances and other activities, he promotes Morioka City and Shiwa Castle Ancient Park.
