Ichihara City's mascot character, Ossa-kun, was created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the city's administration. Modeled on the Japanese bush warbler, the city's bird, he has the city's flower, cosmos, blooming on his head, and a design of the city's tree, ginkgo, on his pouch. “Ossa” apparently means “That's right” in the local dialect. He appears at events in various places to promote Ichihara City.
