The leader of the tanuki living on Mount Mikuma and one of Japan’s three great tanuki. Almost every day, he transforms into a human using shiba leaves and goes to the playhouses in the castle town; he has even gone to Dōtonbori in Osaka to watch plays. He is therefore called “the god of theater.”
