Hachioji City certified local character Takibo. Takibo is a tanuki yokai born in Hachioji, a city known both as one of Japan's foremost university towns and as one of its foremost temple towns, and is training at a temple. It is said that its yokai powers were sealed by Oshosan. Takibo is 400 years old, equivalent to an eight-year-old boy in human terms, and appears at many events while sharing information about Hachioji on Twitter and elsewhere.
