The name comes from the “nine” in the Nine Gods of Good Fortune, formed by adding Shōfukuten (the cat god) and Uwamuki Kozō to the Seven Lucky Gods, and the “nine” in keirin races with nine riders. This signboard cat welcomes everyone with its signature dance while wishing for the riders’ strong performances and for everyone to win on their betting tickets!
