Magutor, Kushimoto Town’s character, was born in Kushimoto Town, where bluefin tuna aquaculture flourishes. Modeled on a bluefin tuna, Magutor wears Turkish traditional clothing and a Turkish amulet on the chest. When a Turkish warship of present-day Turkey was wrecked and sank offshore from Kushimoto Town in 1890, people in Kushimoto Town and the surrounding area devoted themselves to rescue activities, deepening ties between Turkey and Japan. Turkey is therefore also represented.
