Happy Cover-kun, the Matsuyama City Fire Department’s mascot character, was created in 2014. Wearing a helmet and an orange happi coat modeled on a mikan, Happy Cover-kun carries the wish to “protect citizens from fires and disasters and make them happy.” Happy Cover-kun works on fire-prevention and disaster-prevention public-relations activities in Matsuyama City, dreaming of a Matsuyama City free of disasters. The hobby is apparently visiting Dōgo Onsen!
