Meet Yawata Take-chan and Yawata Noko-chan
Yawata Take-chan and Yawata Noko-chan are tourism promotion characters for Yawata City, Kyoto Prefecture. They are bamboo-shoot fairies living in the grove of Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine; together, their names form “takenoko,” meaning bamboo shoot, a local specialty.
