Kappon is a character promoting Jozankei Onsen. Kappon's real name is 定山河童小吉兵衛. One day, while playing with a wooden tub that had washed up on the riverbank, Kappon's body became stuck inside with a loud "kappon!" sound. Unable to get out, the character reportedly came to be called Kappon. With a special talent for making hot spring eggs in the dish on top of the head, Kappon works hard every day to promote beloved Jozankei Onsen!
