Sayarin, Sayama City mascot character. Sayarin is a dragon child born from entries solicited nationwide, modeled on Sayama Pond, the oldest artificial irrigation pond in Japan located in the city. While protecting “the nature and safety of Sayama Pond,” Sayarin has also become a tourism ambassador with the future goal of becoming a fine dragon deity and protecting the pond, appearing at events to promote the city and pond.
