Takasaki Daruma character. Takamaru-kun is a character of Takasaki Daruma, also called “Fortune Daruma” and “Good-luck Daruma,” which has been made for more than 200 years. Although troubled by his “slightly overweight waist,” he appears at the Takasaki Daruma Festival held every January, one of Japan's three major Daruma festivals, and at events in Gunma Prefecture.
