Tamatsukuri's unofficial character, Toratochan, is a mysterious salaryman tiger who came to Tamatsukuri alone on a temporary assignment in 2010, leaving behind his wife and two children. He appears at events mainly in Osaka and the Kansai area, befriending the people of Tamatsukuri and working to enliven the area. Although unofficial, he has been featured in many newspapers and on television, among other activities.
