Aso City's image characters. Gogaku-kun's real name is Aso Gogaku. He is an eight-year-old boy who loves nature and takes things easy. Akaushi-kun is a boy based on Kumamoto Prefecture's specialty akaushi cattle, whose favorite food is Aso's delicious wild grasses. Hinoko-chan's real name is Aso Hinoko. She is a sensible six-year-old girl and Gogaku-kun's younger sister. They were created from a manga artist's designs, with their nicknames selected from public submissions, and are active together or individually at many events.
